Local Restaurant’s Third Annual Toys for Tacos Holiday Fundraiser Kicks Off

PHOENIX – Mesquite Fresh Street Mex, the rapidly expanding concept specializing in inventive and modern Mexican food, has partnered with Arizona Helping Hands this year to spread holiday cheer to the 12,000 children in the state’s foster care system. The family-owned restaurant launched the Toys for Tacos fundraiser in 2020, distributing one free taco to customers in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy. Mesquite Fresh Street Mex will assist Arizona Helping Hands with the toy drive efforts through offering drop-off sites at all nine restaurant locations across the Valley.

Founded in 1998, Arizona Helping Hands serves foster children by providing essentials like personal hygiene kits, school supplies, personalized birthday packages, first aid kits and more. In 2022, the organization distributed 1,569 beds, delivered 1,976 birthday gifts and donated 1,537 school supply packs to youth in need.

“All kids deserve to experience the magic of the holiday season, and for some children, donated toys are the only gifts they will receive this year,” said Ahmad Alatrash, co-founder of AR Concepts. “Join us in spreading cheer with the delicious reward of a taco grilled over mesquite wood!”

Founded by brothers Nas and Ahmad Alatrash, the Mesquite brand specializes in bringing Mexican street food to neighborhoods across the Valley. The signature custom-built mesquite grill featured at all Mesquite locations uses real mesquite wood chips giving the fresh meats a unique and smoky flavor. The brand focuses on incorporating the highest quality ingredients, prepared fresh daily, into every dish. The menu features authentic street tacos, killer burritos, packed protein bowls, big quesadillas, frescas and family meal kits.

Guests can drop off items at any Mesquite Fresh Street Mex location from now through Dec. 18. To find a location near you, visit https://eatmesquite.com/.
