Local Organization Offers Greyhounds for Adoption
A local organization is doing a whole lot of good for animals in need.
Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption is busy searching for permanent, loving homes for beautiful greyhound dogs. They’ve been hard at work since the Tucson Greyhound Park closed in June 2016 after the Arizona State Senate passed a bill banning the sport. There was concern for the dogs treatment.
Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption has taken in more than 130 greyhounds, 21 percent of which came from the Tucson track. Another 58 percent have come from greyhound farms in Kansas, which breed greyhounds for racing.
Satmika, as featured in the photo, is a lovable, friendly black hound with a constantly-wagging tail! Her name means “good heart” in Hindu, and she is the featured pet of the week. If you or someone you know is interested in giving her or another deserving animal a forever home, please visit the official website of Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption for more information.
