Local Baseball Team On The Move

Tucson Saguaros fans will soon be heading to a new ballpark for home games.

The Pecos League team recently announced their transition from Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium to a field at Reid Park in Tucson. Commissioner Andrew Dunn made the news official at a Friday night event this past week.

The Saguaros played their first two seasons at Kino, but their 2018 home games will be played at field #5 at Reid Park. Because of some additional teams in the league, the Saguaros had slightly fewer home games.

While semi-pro baseball may be leaving Kino, there will still be plenty of events to keep the stadium occupied, from high school, college and senior-age baseball leagues. There was an effort to get the Milwaukee Brewers to relocate their spring training games to Kino, an offer that has not yet been accepted and some speculate this may have played a role in the Saguaros decision to move.

While Kino officials and Dunn attempt to reach an agreement over disputed payments, Saguaros fans can look forward to Sunday home games and camps for children.
