(Tempe, Arizona) – This Thursday’s lunch topic at Kiwanis Club of Tempe will be “How to investigate your family tree and ancestry research,” led by ASU Vice Provost, Dr. Duane Roen.
Roen’s free workshops include personal anecdotes, tips on family history research, weaving cultural history into family history, creating timelines, using family-tree software and presenting different genres for publishing a family history. His “researching your family ancestry” talk gives audiences tools to get started in what proves to be both a hobby and lifelong research for many. Dr. Roen spent many years in academia in Wisconsin, then at the University of Arizona. He joined the faculty at Arizona State in 1995. He previously was responsible for overseeing subject-area tutoring, the writing centers, supplemental instruction, the transition program for entering first-year students, and academic-success courses on all four campuses. American Indian Student Support Services also reports to him. At Thursday’s lunch, Dr. Roen will lead the group through some geneology research steps.
