Two people were rushed to the hospital after a driver with a gunshot wound crashed into another car on Thursday night.

The collision took place around 6:30 p.m. in the area of 51st Avenue and Monte Vista Road, just north of McDowell Road. According to Phoenix Police, they received reports of a crash in the vicinity, and when they arrived, they determined that one of the injured people had been shot prior to the crash. That individual was taken to the hospital in critical condition. That driver was behind the wheel of an Altima, which rear-ended a stopped Honda. Officials say the gunshot wound caused the collision.

One other person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Phoenix Police are still investigating the incident. For more information, please visit the official website of the Phoenix Police Department HERE.
