Glendale Police are investigating a home invasion that happened early Wednesday morning in a neighborhood in the area of 51st Avenue and Loop 101.

Police say a man broke into a Glendale residence and injured a man inside the home prior to fleeing the scene with a stolen vehicle. Two people inside the house heard a banging noise coming from the side of the property, followed by breaking glass from the back door. The suspect, a man armed with a handgun, entered the residence and injured the homeowner in a struggle before demanding the keys to a vehicle and fleeing.

Police say a woman was also inside the house at the time, but she was not injured in the incident. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about six feet tall with a medium build, last seen carrying a handgun wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and a baseball cap with a dark-colored bandanna concealing his face.

Police are currently searching for the suspect and the stolen vehicle, which is a white 2018 Mazda CX5 SUV with Arizona plates “AVX1049.”
