Garland Prairie Fire Kills One

Garland Prairie Fire Kills One

A house fire in Williams, Arizona claimed the life of one last week.

Ponderosa Fire District crews were called to a home on Garland Prairie west of Parks on Tuesday morning.

The blaze began around 12:45 a.m. John Haviland was killed in the fire, and his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter were in the house at the time of the fire but escaped safely.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

Haviland was the beloved moderator of First Congregational Church of Flagstaff.

A GoFundMe created to help Haviland’s family during this time has raised over $7,000.

The GoFundMe page has this message:

The Haviland family is enduring great loss due to a house fire that happened in the night on October 23. Nathaniel, Karli and Moira made it safely out of the house but did not have the chance to grab any of their belongings.
This house fire destroyed absolutely everything, from clothing to furniture and even their new vehicle. Everything will need to be replaced.

Mercifully friends and family are gathering to collect donations but the need is great. Please join me in lifting this family up financially and through prayer too.
