Free ways to beat the heat in Tempe this weekend

Yes. The forecast says 90-degree days arrive this weekend. Luckily Tempe has several ways for Valley residents to beat the heat for free. Here’s everything you need to know to cool down as the warm weather arrives.  

April Pools Day at Kiwanis Wave Pool

When: Saturday, April 6, 1-5 p.m.

Where: Kiwanis Wave Pool, 6111 S. All-America Way

What: Water safety activities, swim lessons, CPR demos, firefighters, waves, etc.

The Cloud at Kiwanis Park

Tempe’s splash playground features 5,000 square feet of water play, including loops, jelly sticks, misting sprays and pillars. A rainforest-themed storm occurs every ten minutes, complete with thunder and showers.

The Cloud is located 5233 S. Ash Ave., next to the soccer fields off the Baseline Road entrance to Kiwanis Park. It is free to use and open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October.  Info: tempe.gov/pools.

Splash Pads  

Tempe has three splash pads at Esquer, Jaycee and Hudson parks. All are free to use and open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October. Info: tempe.gov/pools.
