June 7, 2022 – MESA, Ariz. – Visit Mesa, the destination marketing organization for Arizona’s third-largest city, is hitting the airwaves with their all-new podcast titled, For the Love of Mesa. The podcast is the latest venture by Visit Mesa to further enhance the destination’s unique storytelling and features guest narrator, Brian Nissen, local screenwriter and host of Citrus Valley Playhouse.

Named after the DMO’s steering committee made up of residents, local community leaders, and influential voices that help shape Mesa’s programming, the For the Love of Mesa podcast launched its first season with six curated episodes featuring long-form conversations about news and happenings in the destination. The first episode features the origin story of Bell Bank Park powered by Legacy Sports USA, which opened earlier this year in Mesa. The 320-acre facility is the largest sports and entertainment venue of its kind in the country and has already hosted legions of athletes, fans, and performers. Additional episodes feature the story of Armani Williams, the 21-year-old professional stock car driver, and the first professional driver in NASCAR openly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Listeners can soon download podcasts on Mesa’s award-winning Fresh Foodie Trail® where fourth-generation peach farmer Mark Schnepf chats with Mesa head brewer Matt Trethewey about Arizona’s culinary riches, and learn about how Mesa is fast becoming the Southwest’s next beer hub as more breweries open in Mesa’s historic downtown.

“Creating a community shared value was the motivation behind the podcast, as we use this new tool for content creation to tell our partner stories, elevate our hometown heroes and get people talking about and listening to the hyper-local on-goings in our destination,” said Visit Mesa Chief Communications Officer Michelle Streeter. “The podcast is letting us serve up a richer narrative and go much deeper into a topic than a social media post or blog. We want to lift the voices in our community with this programming, and share these casual, engaging yet heartfelt in-depth conversations that we hope will invite listeners to lean in closer to check out what else is going on in our destination and at Visit Mesa.”

In addition to the first season’s six episodes, Visit Mesa will be pushing out podcast content regularly as various departments utilize the hosting platform to highlight their clients, partners, and events – as well as cover topical events and issues facing the hospitality industry.

Visit Mesa developed the For the Love of Mesa steering committee to frame local voices and share their input about how to best position the destination and has been incorporating the committee’s valued feedback into a variety of our strategies. Steering Committee members are highlighted in the 2022 Mesa Life Visitors Guide profiles, they are contributors to the blog, featured on the podcast and members are featured on our social media stories where we feature their destination photos and elevate their sentiments about Mesa. The committee will also further contribute to podcast topics in future episodes. Since the committee’s inception, Visit Mesa has relied on these ambassadors to help spread the word about all the DMO is doing in the community.

The For the Love of Mesa podcast is available on all major podcast streaming services, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify, as well as Buzzsprout.
