Fashionably Impoverished: A Conscious Conversation

Fashionably Impoverished: A Conscious Conversation

When you purchase clothing, you’re making a choice to support whatever means it took to make it, often without a second thought. How can you make sure your clothing choices reflect your values and support a healthy environment?

On Tuesday, November 29th, 2016, desginer and founder of Threads of Evolution, Tracey Martin, will host a discussion on the ASU Tempe campus to educate consumers on how to make more sustainable and ethical clothing choices.

Tracey Martin is a renowned public speaker on the subject of sustainability in the fashion industry. She has founded three successful ecologically responsible clothing and accessory brands. Tracey’s latest project involves changing the way we dye textiles. Frustrated with the lack of transparency in the current “organic/low impact” dye process, she decided to partner with the leaders in the organic dye world to create, De La Terre Colours. These dyes are environmentally sustainable, 100% organic plant-based, and can be massed produced for large-scale dye houses.

A conscious conversation to disrupt your current thought process on how you buy your clothing and who makes it. Tracey will discuss the social, ethical, and moral impacts our clothing decisions have on the world.
