Families and individuals served by Catholic Charities Community Services will be among those benefitting from the unique vending-machine driven #Light the World Giving Campaignin downtown Gilbert from Nov. 20-Jan. 1, 2020.
Four vending machines will be located at 45 W. Page at the Gilbert Water Tower in downtown. The Giving Machines provide people an instant act of service by purchasing items for children and families in need both locally and around the world with a simple swipe of a credit card amid holiday festivities.
Items range in price from $2 to $320. Catholic Charities is among six non-profit organizations participating in the campaign.
Catholic Charities will be receiving donations that include emergency hotel stays for families experiencing homelessness during extreme weather, bicycles to provide essential transportation, job interview clothing, packs of diapers, kids books and games for underserved youth and early education.
“This is an incredibly unique way to ensure that struggling individuals and families are not only provided with holiday gifts, but with items that will help make their lives better,” said Catholic Charities Community Services President and CEO Paul Mulligan. “The Giving Machines are an example of how little gifts can result in big opportunities.”
Gilbert is one of nine locations around the world where machines will be placed for 25 days this holiday season. Last year, more than $850,00 was raised through the East Valley location.
The event launches on Nov. 20 and donations can be made through Jan. 1, 2020.
