It’s the most magical time of the year- and many families in need saw that firsthand this past weekend.
The Phoenix Rescue Mission hosted its annual “Winter Wonderland” celebration on Saturday. Over 1,000 parents and children gathered at the Community Solutions Center in south Phoenix for the event, which provided gifts for families who otherwise wouldn’t have any presents during the holidays. Guests also enjoyed a gently used coat giveaway, food, face painting, and bounce houses.
This event aims to ensure every child gets a memorable Christmas experience, regardless of family income. This generous gesture meant a lot to these grateful families. A 14-year-old Surprise resident, makenna Breading-Goodrich, started collecting coats for those in need five years ago. This year, she partnered with Phoenix Rescue Mission to supply coats for attendees at this year’s Winter Wonderland.
The event ended with a lunch meal, feeding all 1,000 guests. For more information on how to help, please visit the official website of Phoenix Rescue Mission.
