Eye-Opening Nonviolence and Activism Workshop Set for Saturday
Join Nonviolence Legacy Project/ Culture of Peace Alliance and Southern Arizona Hate Crimes Task Force for a rewarding, eye-opening workshop on nonviolence and activism. 
 
The event is planned for Saturday, May 27 at YWCA Southern Arizona Frances McClelland Community Center. This will be a full-day event, kicking off at 8:30 a.m. and finishing at 5:00 p.m. 
 
This hands-on, multi-generational workshop for youth and adults will give participates an interactive experience. They will learn the six principles and six steps of Kingian Nonviolence, a philosophy that provides the knowledge and skills necessary for people to approach personal and community problems with peace rather than violence. 
 
Professionals will also address strategies to apply nonviolent actions to defend civil rights and protect threatened groups and individuals, and discuss how nonviolence can be a powerful strategy for organizing social change. 
 
Interested participants can register on the official YWCA Tucson website. Suggested donations for tickets is $30 for adults, $10 for college students and $5 for High School and Middle School students. 
YWCA Southern Arizona Frances McClelland Community Center is located at 525 N. Bonita Avenue in Tucson.
