A dog got into a tricky situation on Tuesday morning as the free-spirited canine was spotted running up and down State Route 51 in Phoenix.
The pooch’s appearance caused a traffic jam on southbound State Route 51 at around 6 a.m. near the mini-stack. Local news helicopters captured video showing troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety escorting the dog to safety, out of harm’s way on the freeway.
The animal was captured by troopers near 21st Street and Roosevelt before being turned over to animal control, where he will remain quarantined for 10 days.
According to AzDPS, dispatchers received calls overnight about the dog making its way on at least one freeway. Once the dog began stopping traffic on State Routes 51 and 202, troopers stepped up their efforts to get the animal out of the way to avoid dangerous wrecks.
