A terrifying car crash in south Tempe has killed a man and injured several others.

According to Tempe Police, the crash happened on Baseline Road near Interstate 10 around 8 p.m. on Saturday, when a passenger vehicle heading eastbound crossed over the center line and collided with a truck traveling in the westbound direction.

The driver of the passenger car, a man in his late 70’s, was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The passenger in his car and a passenger in the truck were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say the victims have not yet been identified and impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
