Coyotes Help With Fan’s Funeral Costs
When the Arizona Coyotes heard about a fan killed on his way to a game last month, they knew they had to do something.
On Dec. 19, Arizona State student Jenna Tornese and her father, Douglas, were on their way to watch the Coyotes take on the Panthers. Sadly, they never made it. Their car was rear-ended by a pickup truck, resulting in a chain-reaction crash on Loop 202 in Phoenix.
Douglas was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of blunt force head trauma. His heartbroken daughter Jenna created a GoFundMe page to raise expenses for his funeral, posting a picture of the two at a Coyotes game.
On Monday, she received an email from Lindsay Kray, the Coyotes’ senior director of client services and guest experience. Kray sent this message: On behalf of the entire Arizona Coyotes organization, please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your father. Your dad was a big fan of our team and we thank him for all of his loyalty and support. We can’t imagine what you are going through right now but we are thinking about you and your family. As a token of our appreciation for you and your father, we have made a donation of $1,000 on your Go Fund Me page to help with the funeral arrangements.

The Coyotes also extended an invitation to Jenna and her family for a future game.

With the Coyotes’ donation, Jenna’s GoFundMe page has raised $2,000 more over her original goal of $7,000. Donations are still being accepted, and the fundraiser can be found here.
