Rogers Lake southwest of Flagstaff is a beautiful, tranquil spot. At one edge of the lake sits an expansive 30-acre, two-building property.
Now, Coconino County officials have started the search for a new entity to manage the country-owned Frontiere property. A request for proposals made public last week seeks an experienced expert to operate the property, which includes a six-bedroom residence above a 16-stall equestrian stable. There is also a three-bedroom caretaker residence with a five-car garage and a 6,000 square-foot unfinished foundation.
Several groups have already expressed interest in the property, with some organizations considering equestrian activities or residence-type rehab or counseling programs on the site. With six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in the upper floor residence, there’s plenty of potential here. For the past three years, Northern Arizona University has hosted a summer artists-in-residence program at the property, but they will not be renewing their contract this year.
There are four RV campsites with power, water and sewer hookups and space for approximately 50 vehicles. The property, which sits on land donated to Coconino County by late St. Louis Rams owner Georgia Frontiere, is a gorgeous opportunity for many organizations and groups. According to the request for proposals, any contractor would function under a shared revenue model with the county and would need to suggest a use fitting for the county’s conservation values for the property and the Rogers Lake Natural Area management plan.
