Cottonwood Man Sentenced in Cornville Crash

A Cottonwood man was sentenced to 16-and-a-half years in prison for his role in a deadly car crash last year.

31-year-old Cody Louis Bright was behind the wheel in November 2016 when he was involved in a three-car accident on Cornville Road. One of the other cars overturned in the crash, which claimed the life of 31-year-old Cottonwood resident Justin Allen Goemaere, Bright’s passenger and friend. A heavily intoxicated Bright was driving with a revoked license at the time of the crash.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials arrested Bright, who faced 13 counts including manslaughter, aggravated and extreme DUI.

Bright pled guilty to his crimes, and was sentenced to spend the next 16 years behind bars.
