On Friday, September 08, 2017, the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) hosted a CAFE for community members passionate about making a difference in the lives of students. CAFE stands for Community and Family Engagement. The event was organized by School Connect, which helps build partnerships by engaging the faith community and collaborating with community partners to adopt local schools.
Attendees were personally invited to the CAFE by QCUSD school principals. Sitting at tables uniquely decorated for each school; the principals and attendees held roundtable discussions about school needs and ways the community can get involved. Some examples of what QCUSD schools need include mentors for students, businesses to host field trips, guest speakers for upcoming career days, and education foundation donations. Friday’s CAFE allowed QCUSD principals to build a network of reliable contacts wanting to help Queen Creek students and schools.
Another way to help QCUSD is by taking part in Love Our Schools Day on Saturday, September 30. Each QCUSD school will have projects in need of volunteers. Project examples include planting gardens, painting classrooms, updating school grounds, or writing Thank You cards to teachers. Sign up today at schoolconnect.org.
