A decorated basketball coach with more than three decades of experience is returning to the valley to take on a new position.

Arizona Christian Athletic Director Jeff Rutter recently announced the appointment of two-time NAIA National Coach of the Year Rusty Rogers as the new head coach of Women’s Basketball. Rogers last coached for Concordia University Chicago, a NCAA Division III school.

He also spent a significant amount of time at Western Oregon University, and he’s in the school’s hall of fame with 120 wins. Rogers also worked at Wilmington University, and he departed as the all-time winningest coach with 87 victories scattered across just four years.

Rogers, a current resident of Scottsdale and an attendee of Christ Lutheran Church, previously coached girls basketball at Sandra Day O’Connor High School for the 2013-14 season.

Congratulations, Rusty Rogers!
