Detectives from the Chandler Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit are continuing their investigation into the theft of a diamond last month, and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 19 when an unidentified black male entered the Ben Bridge jewelry store inside the Chandler Fashion Mall and asked about purchasing a diamond. The suspect requested to see a loose diamond, but when the employee presented the jewel, the suspect grabbed the diamond and walked out of the store. He then fled the mall on foot and entered a green or gray Jeep SUV. According to the Chandler Police Department, the stolen diamond is 2.11 carets and valued at sixteen thousand dollars.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white pinstriped dress shirt with black dress pants and a multicolored bowtie. Police say he is between 18 to 30 years of age and average in build, with an earring in his left year.

Anyone with any information about this incident or the suspect’s identity should contact the Chandler Police Department at (480) 782-4130, or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS (948-6377).  Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of this suspect.
