Celebrate Tempe’s history at Hayden’s Ferry Days from March 2-4

Explore Tempe’s unique history at the 3rd annual Hayden’s Ferry Days from March 2-4. The three-day celebration includes a dinner, free community festival and a day of tours at historic Tempe locations. The community is invited to attend these family-friendly events that showcase Tempe’s rich culture and heritage through interactive, informative and interesting activities.

Friday, March 2, 6 p.m. – Founders Dinner

Hackett House, 95 W. 4th St.

Kick off Hayden’s Ferry Days at Hackett House with a fabulous dinner prepared in early frontier style in Dutch Ovens by the prizewinning 5th generation Arizonans who founded the EZ Cattle Company. Family members, dressed in period costume, will prepare a delicious prime rib and chicken menu. Joe Spracale, a longtime Tempe educator, will speak and enjoy the music of Three Horse Town. Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – The Festival

Tempe History Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave.

This free, family-friendly festival features interactive displays, interesting booths, demonstrators and Western re-enactors. There will be a Vintage & Antique market and a spot where community members can get their antiques appraised (fees apply). Enjoy a variety of music, including the Mike Eldred Trio, Mariachi Tempe, Cisco and the Racecars and plenty of interactive fun. The Festival is FREE to attend.

 

Sunday, March 4 – Historic Tour Day 

Join history experts on one or all these tours to explore well-known historic houses in Tempe.

Walk Through History Tour hosted by the Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation

8-11 a.m., Hackett House, 95 W. 4th St.

Breakfast is at 8 a.m. Walking tour begins at 9 a.m.  

Cost: $25 (includes continental breakfast and guided tour). Tickets and more info here.

Petersen House hosted by the Tempe History Museum and Tempe Garden Club

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1414 W. Southern Ave.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 927 E. 8th St.

Self-guided tours are free, donations welcome.
