Celebrate Christmas at the Tempe South Stake Messiah Sing-along

All are welcome at this interfaith event! Join us to celebrate the season and sing along with orchestra and lead choir the glorious music of Handel’s “The Messiah.” Or just come to listen in surround sound!

Free event and no donations will be solicited. Come early for seating, as we expect a full house again.

When: Sunday, December 17th from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Where: Tempe South Stake, located at 1111 E. Knox Road.   

A limited number of vocal scores will be available to borrow, or bring your own score. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the event.

Choruses: “And the Glory of the Lord,” “For Unto Us a Child is Born,” “Glory to God,” “Behold the Lamb of God,” “Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs,” and “Hallelujah Chorus.”

Orchestra conducted by Vassilios Makavos. Orchestra members may include Ryan Keeney, Kristin Shaeffer and Jayne Sargent on violin, Devin Kristofferson and Taylor Sapanara on viola, Eliisa Turner and Geri Jean Mills on cello, Jon Keeney and Kevin Wise on bass, Sariah Sharp, Kathi Hausmann and Sarah Hausmann on flute, Cammie Christensen and Kirsten Miller on clarinet, Shazer Thwaits on oboe, Madeline Powell, Joseph Powell, Cole Evans and Marilyn Groberg Powell on French horn, Ches Sharp and Ronald Simmons-Welles on trumpet, Don Mills, Alex Mills and Richard Chappell on trombone, Lonnie Slawson on timpani and Al Brixey on organ. Students from American Leadership Academy will also play in the orchestra.

Vocal soloists: Emilie Dupuis, Brianna Hill, Shiela Jarvis, Mckell Keeney, Michael Rogan, Sarah Rogan, Mary Roosma and Clark Shaeffer.

Lead choir includes vocal soloists and Lisa Barrett, Ronni Black, Heidi Johnson, Nancy Jordan, Shelly Heward, Carolyn Merrill, Connie Starks, Aimee Stewart, Beth, Dan Black, Dallin Dayes, Dale Heward, Eric Johnson, Dave Jordan, Eric Layton, Enoch Olmstead, Ray Richardson, Eli Stewart, Jonathan Thwaits and Rhett Turner. Students from American Leadership Academy will also sing in the lead choir.
