Supermarket chain will announce which one charity (out of 10 finalists) received the most online votes from the community; Trey Basha will present that charity with $50,000!
In keeping with its long history of giving back to the communities it serves, Bashas’ is upping the ante on its charitable efforts. This year, as part of its 90th anniversary celebration, the Arizona grocer will present
$50,000 to a deserving charity as part of its Community Choice Charity Challenge. The winning charity will be announced during a special event this Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Bashas’ store at McClintock and Warner in Tempe.
Beginning in mid-July, Bashas’ invited shoppers across Arizona to cast votes for their favorite charities, drawing from a list of the 32 beneficiaries that Bashas’ has recognized as 2022 Charity of the Month organizations. Voting spanned four, two-week phases, during which members of the community could vote for the charity they believed to be most deserving of additional funds. A select number of nonprofits with the most votes advanced to the next phase.
Now, the pool has been narrowed to just 10 charities, and Bashas’ President Edward “Trey” Basha will officially name the $50,000 winner during a special gathering. Representatives from all 10 charities will be in attendance to learn who will receive the sizable donation.
The 10 finalist charities vying for the top award in the Bashas’ Community Choice Charity Challenge are:
· Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center
· Ronald McDonald House Charities’ of Central and Northern Arizona and of Southern Arizona
· Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC)
