For the eight years that I've had with Tucson so far, part of what I've always loved about it is its music scene. From its touring acts to the colorful variety of local artists who make up the backbone of this city, the Old Pueblo is bursting with talent. That is what encouraged me to take my natural knack for writing into a professional journalistic format for the first time back in 2012, when I signed up for Yahoo!'s then-active 'Voices' contributor program at 18 years-old. Since then, it's been a whirlwind that has brought me from working closely with big names and their associated management and press (Eric Clapton, Snoop Dogg) for reviews and assorted features across a variety of web magazines and blogs, to interviews held at mom-and-pop coffee shops with smaller artists for the local paper.I take special pride in my work covering all aspects of today's music, whether it be as a freelance journalist with Tucson Local Media (Tucson Weekly, Explorer Newspaper), or with PopMatters or For Folk's Sake, or as a local venue promoter for pushing events on behalf of Monterey Court. My favorite part of the gig is making friends with the artists and the PR, the fellow journalists and the editors, the venue owners, label runners, managers, radio hosts, and beyond, who make up this industry. Those who work with me know that I have an impregnable knack for quick turnarounds and assignments and work well with others in high and low-pressure situations. I do well in a versatile work environment and I'm not afraid to lead the charge. Outside of music journalism, I've covered a spectrum of topics, ranging from books, to national parks, plays, local events, and a slew of other topics. No matter what the topic, I endeavor to produce unique, quality articles in prompt, accurate, succinct, and individualistic fashion.
