ASU Women’s Basketball Powers Past Arizona

In a bitter battle between rivals, Arizona State University Women’s Basketball prevailed over University of Arizona, 75-50 on Friday night.

ASU Guard Robbi Ryan enjoyed a career-high 24 points as her team took advantage of a strong third quarter to power past their opponents. After this big win, the Sun Devils were sitting at 18-9 and 9-6 in Pac-12 play. They outscored the Wildcats 25-5 with 17 unanswered points in the third quarter. Although Arizona trailed a mere four points at the break and scored first in the second half, the Wildcats missed eight remaining shots in the third quarter as the Sun Devils made a break for it.

Ryan went 8-of-12 from the field with a pair of triples and six successful foul shouts. Courtney Ekmark contributed 17 points, while Jamie Ruden added 12 and Kianna Ibis scored 10. ASU snapped a two-game skid with this victory, in which they outscored Arizona 32-10 in points off turnovers.
