The Verde Valley Archaeology Center has received a $24,000 grant.
As the official nonprofit partner of Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments, the archaeology center plays a vital role in conservation, preservation and education for the Verde Valley. This grant will go a long way in ensuring a bright future for the archaeology center.
The Museums of America grant is made possible by the Institute for Museum and Library Services. The grant money will be used to update and expand the center’s current Yavapai-Apache exhibit
While the Verde Valley Archaeology Center will lead the expansion project, they will work closely with the Yavapai-Apache Nation’s cultural directors and archaeologist. The exhibit aims to provide a better understanding and appreciation of the ancestral and current Yavapai and Apache history, who have called the Verde Valley home since 2,000 B.C.
