Announcing the Win Big 50/50 Raffle for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona
Two early Bird Winners Already Drawn
PHOENIX (July 1, 2021) – On June 14th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona (BBBSAZ) announced their new Win Big 50/50 raffle campaign. The raffle has a guaranteed jackpot of at least $10,000 and has already awarded two Early Bird Prizes to BBBSAZ supporters, Charlotte Shaff and Kris Smith. Each early bird winner will take home $500.
BBBSAZ serves more than 1,500 youth each year through one-to-one mentoring programs and has nearly 200 youth on their waitlist at any given time. These are children who have said they would like to have a mentor, but haven’t yet been matched with one. Knowing there are always going to be more youth that can benefit from having a caring, adult mentor, the BBBSAZ team has been exploring new ways to generate revenue growth.
“The goals of this new campaign are to give existing and new supporters a fun and easy way to support the BBBSAZ mission,” says BBBSAZ Director of Development, Adrian Jamieson. It costs on average $1,500 to serve a first year Match, including the recruitment and screening of a quality volunteer, ongoing support from a trained staff member, and resources for the mentee and their family. “We know that if we want to continue to grow our programs, we will have to be really creative in how we generate revenue moving forward.”
The need for BBBSAZ program has increased as the community continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Having a trusted adult mentor is shown to build resilience in youth; a much needed trait as families continue to struggle financially and students navigate the transition back to in-person learning.
Supporters can get their tickets to the Win Big 50/50 until Thursday, July 15th, with the winner being drawn on Friday, July 16th. If successful, the BBBSAZ team hopes to run this campaign on a quarterly basis with the next campaign planned for late September.
