Pomo Restaurant Group’s brand new contemporary Italian steakhouse concept, The Americano, in North Scottsdale (17797 N. Scottsdale Rd.) is now taking online reservations starting on Wednesday, February 5.
In anticipation of its opening, the restaurant has also released a preview of its modern in approach menu with Italian firepower from Executive Chef Matthew Taylor. Appetizers will include dishes such as Millbrooks Farm Vension Polpette, with celeriac pureè, black truffle and agrodolce; Octopus Fritto, with pickled fennel pureè and salsa peperoncino and Tableside Tuna Tartare, with tallow tonnato, caper, shallot conserva, pepitas, cured egg yolk and squid ink lavash. House-made pasta will include options like the Tagliolini all’Americano, with soffritto bianco, king crab, Santa Barbara sea urchin and gustoso butter and Rigatoni Salsiccia e Ricotta Salata, with butcher-made pork sausage, pequillo ragu and salsa pomodoro.
The Americano will also offer a fine meat selection prepared on a wood burning fire grill. This includes Certified Piedmontese from Nebraska, Japanese and U.S. Wagyu beef and 100% U.S. prime beef from Niman Ranch. Guests can also enjoy a “Mare-Monti”, a surf & turf bone in filet and half Maine lobster; Branzino alla Plancha, with black garlic, fennel, frisèe and treviso salad with chared lemon; and a Cider Cured Liberty Farms Duck Breast, with fennel soubise and cider jus. The restaurant will also have a raw bar and caviar service.
The concept’s innovative cocktail menu from Bar Manager-Sommelier, Kevin Fegurson; and Lead Bartender & Spirits Specialist, Christopher Cuestas, will include signature drinks like The Americano, which is smoked in a crystal decanter and served tableside with a stamped Americano Collins cube with Heirloom Alchermes American Liqueur, Antica Carpano (Italian vermouth) and soda; and the Artiglio Bianco Spritzer, which is the Italian meaning of “White Claw” and will serve as a playful spiked seltzer with Luxardo Maraschino Cherry Liqueur, Lillet Blanc, luxardo cherry and red ice cubes.
The Americano’s lead sommelier, Nicholas Padua, has curated a wine program with vintage bottles and a mix of both boutique and iconic wineries. Wine by the glass options include the Constadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut from Lombardy region in Italy, which is a world-class metodo classico and has only 11% of its annual production exported around the globe. Other options include the Bollinger Special Cuvèe Brut champagne from France, served by Magnum an outstanding wine distinguished by its complexity and elegance since 1829; and the Gaja DaGromis Barolo (2015) wine from the Piedmont region in Italy, made by one of the world’s greatest winemakers, Angelo Gaja, who has been responsible for bold and daring innovations in the vineyards and the cellars.
