March is Red Light Running Awareness Month in AZ

Did you know March is “Red Light Running Awareness Month” in Arizona? Gov. Doug Ducey recently signed a proclamation with the input of local organization Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance.
Three families who incurred the consequences of red light runners founded the Red Means Stop Coalition. RMSC founding families, Frank Hinds, Les Marquis and John Philippi came together to begin the coalition, dedicated to their children, Jennifer Hinds, Sam Marquis and Krystal Philippi.
When formed in 1999, the Red Means Stop Coalition was the only known grassroots organization of its kind in the United States. There are many traffic advocates around the country who have similar programs now. Red Means Stop’s goal is to educate the public about the dangers and consequences of red light running and support ways to significantly reduce red light running accidents.
Traffic safety impacts all of us (drivers, passengers, pedestrians, e-scooterists, motorcyclists, bicyclists). Unfortunately, Arizona ranks among the worst states for red-light running deaths, speeding and pedestrian fatalities. Arizona was also identified as a state with the least skilled drivers
Join Red Means Stop on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 for their inaugural fundraising Red Dinner to learn how you can help in the awareness of red light running dangers.
The Red Dinner is an opportunity to learn more about the significant traffic safety issues our communities face and how to be part of the solution. Guests will hear from victims and families who have been impacted by crashes.
Help Red Means Stop make Arizona roads safer.
All proceeds will go toward Red Means Stop’s programs and initiatives.
