Tempe Prep Middle School Improv Club’s a Laugh-A-Minute

Laughter is the best medicine, and the Tempe Prep Middle School Improv Club’s first-ever performance definitely cured me of any illness. On Thursday, Nov. 7, Improv Club held their first show. It included multiple quite entertaining games and a wonderful host. There was laughter and there were tears … of laughter. The best thing the show had going for it, though, was putting people on the spot.

Some good examples of the above were in a game called Slow-Mo. The game is played by four or more people and consists of two controlling the other two in a specific situation. Mr. Macdonald was picked to be a participant of this game. When you see one of your teachers put in a situation where they have no idea, you can fully relate, especially since that would be your reaction to one of their tests.

Another game played was World’s Worst. During this game, all club members come onto the stage and act out the world’s worst something. Suggestions come from the audience. There is nothing more entertaining than watching a dozen kids try to come up with the world’s worst Super Bowl commercial. All of their ideas came straight from their heads and right on the spot.

Another game played was Dr. Know-It-All. Three kids come up on stage and act as Dr. Know-It-All. The audience asks Dr. Know-It-All questions about the universe. Then the doctor answers their questions. He gave the audience an answer to one of the world’s hardest questions: Can you drink liquid gold? Dr Know-It-All’s answer was that you can’t drink it without anything toxic.

The whole show brought a lot of good and funny content. I enjoyed myself and laughed a lot. Supporting the Improv Club can bring about even more funny content like some of the examples above. If you have some ideas on making things even funnier, you should consider joining the club. However, if you have no creativity, you can always go to their next show.
