Esperança, a Phoenix-based nonprofit whose mission is to improve health and restore hope both locally and globally, has elected Dr. Raymond Sachs to serve on its Board of Directors.

After serving in the United States Navy, Dr. Sachs attended and graduated from Loyola Medical School as an Orthopedic Surgeon and went on to work for Kaiser Permanente in San Diego.

Now retired, Dr. Sachs volunteers with Esperança, having led surgical missions in Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru and Ecuador, providing free orthopedic care to Latin America’s most underserved population.  In addition to these responsibilities, he joins the board of directors, lending his knowledge and expertise to the organization.

“I am passionate about delivering health care to those most in need and am devoted to helping Esperança grow and prosper,” says Dr. Sachs. “It is an honor to be a part of this organization in this expanded role.”

“Dr. Sachs has led 15 different surgical missions for Esperança over the years.  We are thrilled that he will now be a part of our board of directors, helping to govern and guide our organization as we enter into our 50th year of service,” said Jeri Royce, president/CEO of Esperança.

Dr. Sachs served as Chairman of the Orthopedic Department at Kaiser Permanente and is currently Chair of the Board of Directors at his synagogue.
