Lost Our Home Pet Rescue is inviting people to foster a dog for Thanksgiving so their sheltered dogs can have some R & R in a home and enjoy the holiday too. Spreading your love to a shelter dog by opening your home to one for the Thanksgiving holiday is a great way to give and receive thanks.
“We decided there is no better time than Thanksgiving for our shelter dogs that are either adoptable or in our Temporary Care Program to enjoy some time with a family,” said Jodi Polanski, founder of Lost our Home Pet Rescue. “Dogs can be picked up Wednesday by 4 p.m. and adoptable animals come back by Friday afternoon. The Temporary Care dogs could stay longer if the foster families want. This program allows the dogs to have a shelter break and families get to enjoy a very grateful furry guest that won’t overstay their welcome.”
The foster process will be streamlined for this special occasion although if the foster family has another dog in the home they would need to bring their dog to meet the shelter dog before going home with the family. All of the dogs who are available to “go home for the holiday” have been medically cleared. To foster for the Thanksgiving holiday please email Kris Shaffer, shelter operations manager at firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the latest.
