The City of Tempe’s HOPE homeless outreach team is accepting donations of small fleece blankets and cold-weather items such as jackets, hats, gloves and scarves.
“As the temperatures start to drop, many individuals and families without a safe place to call home don’t have a way to stay warm outside,” said Tempe’s Homeless Solutions Supervisor Nichole Stevens.
“Community members often ask our team how they can help those in need,” Stevens said. “A beanie or blanket not only keeps people warm but gives our outreach specialists an opportunity to engage them about available services.”
All donated items must be new as the HOPE team is unable to launder used items. Donations can be dropped off 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday at the city’s Human Services Department located on the second floor of the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road. Administrative offices are closed Nov. 28-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
