Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, a Great Hearts school, is excited to announce that one of its own recently won first place for Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane’s annual Constitution contest. Every year, kids from different grade levels can enter essays or artwork in the city’s annual contest.
Eighth grader Udbhav Akolkar, 13, took first place out of his category of 245 participants. Akolkar wrote a 500 word essay on the importance of the sixth amendment. Participants in the competition must demonstrate the importance and their understanding of our Constitution. The purpose of the contest is to encourage young Americans to understand and better appreciate one of the most important documents in the United States.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is part of Great Hearts, a nonprofit network of tuition-free public charter schools dedicated to improving education nationwide through classical preparatory K-12 academies. More information can be found at greatheartsamerica.org.
