Noticing some new activity at the museum? The Tempe City Council Chambers have been temporarily relocated to the museum’s ??? room while their downtown home gets a much-needed upgrade. Regular Council Meetings, Work Study Sessions, as well as several board and commission meetings will take place in the room through early 2020. See a full City Council schedule here.

But that doesn’t mean museum activities are missing a beat! A new season of Performances at the Museum kicks off on Sept. 7 with Territorial Brass. This season’s music will highlight Music Through the Decades to coincide with the feature exhibit, Walking Mill Avenue. Click here to see a full schedule.

Haven’t checked out the Walking Mill Avenue exhibit yet? It’s definitely worth the visit. The exhibit walks you back in time, exploring the various Mill Avenue eras ranging from the late 1800s to Prohibition to hippies to the Tempe Sound of the 1990s. Pictures, quotes, artifacts and narratives tell the story of one of the Valley’s most famous streets. The exhibit is open during regular museum hours and is free to attend (donations are welcome). Click here for museum hours and information.

As always, the museum’s Main Gallery is open to visitors and the Museum Store has a unique selection of Tempe-inspired gifts. Visit tempe.gov/museum for more information.
