Investigators from local agency Strategic Intelligence Services PLLC have begun to investigate the cold case murder of Anthony Egger in Baltimore, Maryland in 2009. They are working this case pro bono as part of their mission to give back through HelpSolveTheCase.com
“This is a really tough case in more ways than one” says private investigator and former police detective Christine Burke. “Any time you have a family that loses a loved one and doesn’t have any answers, it’s gut-wrenching. Add to that the fact that this case has remained unsolved for so long and worse still, the victim’s brother was a former police officer for this department.”
Burke took on the case out of a desire to help and also because she was astonished that the department and the citizens of Baltimore have turned a blind eye, not only to the victim but also to John Egger who faithfully served them.
“I certainly don’t feel that officers should receive special treatment but I don’t understand how the department can present themselves this way when they and John Egger know how it’s supposed to work. It’s disgusting to me. But, from what I am finding out, this is not the only time this has happened. It’s shameful.”
Burke and her team have requested answers from the police department but have been met with wrong numbers, unanswered phones and unanswered emails. She will be traveling in July to meet with Anthony’s family, visit the scene of the crime, and hopefully get answers.
