Madison Education Foundation Raises Funds for 6,000 Local School Children Through Inaugural Wonderland-Themed Gala
The Madison Education Foundation will host their first ever Imagination Gala this April at the newly constructed Madison Center for the Arts. Attendees will have the opportunity to eat, drink, and enjoy the arts with a performance of Alice in Wonderland by Convergence Ballet, while raising funds for local elementary and middle school children. The gala will also feature three local restaurants and a local brewery whose generous support to the Foundation and the district’s students has helped to make the event possible.
“The Madison Education Foundation is thrilled to host our first gala as we look to enhance arts education across the district,” said Madison Education Foundation Executive Director Amy Marschel. “This will be an unforgettable evening supported by local entertainers, artists and eateries in a breathtaking space.”
Guests will enjoy a ballet performance, silent auction, two raffles (with one featuring student artwork), heavy hors d’oeuvres from Santa Barbara Catering and adult beverages from SanTan Brewery. The event also includes an afterparty with dancing and desserts from local bakery Fairytale Brownies and restaurant Phoenix City Grille.
Additionally, the WONDERLAND event will showcase art from Las Vegas resident Kat Tatz. Prints of her Alice in Wonderland inspired paintings will be provided to all VIP attendees. Previews of her art can be seen at: http://www.kattatz.com. Tatz has been featured on HGTV’s “DIY to the Rescue,” and her work is on display in regional and national hotels, businesses as well as in private collections.
Tickets are $100 for general admission, $150 for VIP admission, and are available online. VIP attendees will enjoy reserved seating to the performance, a signed print by artist Kat Tatz and one raffle ticket providing attendees an opportunity to win a seat named after themselves in the theatre. Both price levels will include one drink voucher.
All proceeds from the event support the Madison Education Foundation and its mission to enrich music and arts education throughout the entire district. The Madison Education Foundation provides free field trips to the MIM for all district students as well as supports the district wide Art Masterpiece program. In addition, the Foundation awards teacher grants each year and supports student performances at the new Madison Center for the Arts. The Madison Center for the Arts was built as a central performing arts venue intended to enrich the artistic experiences of the Madison District students as well as the community. The state of the art center provides the facilities necessary to develop skills in all areas of the arts, as well as technical theatre. Additionally, outside rentals and presented programs offer the entire community a new venue for its residents to experience quality entertainment and educational opportunities.

About Madison Elementary School District
For more than 125 years, Madison Elementary School District (Madison Schools) has been one of the top elementary school districts in the state with its eight schools consistently earning high honors. Founded in 1890, Madison Schools serves approximately 5,800 students in the heart of Phoenix from 32nd Street to 7th Avenue and between Indian School Road and Northern Avenue. Five of its schools are in the top 10 Phoenix public elementary schools through AzMerit scores and nearly 50 percent of its students come from outside the District. This means nearly 2,800 families choose a Madison Schools education over their neighborhood school. The district has been recognized locally and nationally for its outstanding “signature” educational programs including the International Baccalaureate program, Spanish Immersion, REACH program, Visual and Performing Arts, Traditional curriculum, and Spanish Fluency, For additional information about Madison Schools, please visit http://www.madisonaz.org/
