Annual Madison Dash to the Bash Announced for March 9

On Saturday, March 9th, the second annual Madison Dash to the Bash will be held on a course through scenic North Central Phoenix. The Dash includes two components, a Competitive Run as well as a Mini Dash.

“This is a unique opportunity for community members to show their support for the 6,000+ Madison District students along with improving ones’ fitness and health,” shared Madison Education Foundation, Executive Director Amy Marschel. “We’re inviting all of North Central Phoenix and our surrounding neighbors to join us and enjoy a beautiful morning run or walk through the heart of Phoenix this weekend.”

Competitive Run

The 5K run begins and ends at 24th and Missouri. All ages may participate. Race registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 8:00 a.m. Registration costs $15 for those 14 and under, and $40 for those 15 and up. Registration includes a t-shirt, finisher medal and water and healthy snacks for all runners.

Mini Dash

The 1K will begin at 9 a.m. at Madison No. 1 Middle School. It is free for students (10 and under). After the Mini Dash is completed, all race participants can partake in the awards ceremony which will begin at 10:00 a.m. located at Madison No. 1 Middle School.

For those not interested in running there are also volunteer opportunities available to help with water stations, registration, refreshments, awards, course directors, mini dash, parking/bus stop and traffic (must be 18+). To sign up please visit http://madisondashtothebash5k.org/.

It is advised that anyone attending or participating, arrive early so that there is time to find parking and walk to the starting line. There are no bag checks and water stations will be available for runners.

The Madison Bash, which directly follows the Dash, will be held from 9-12 p.m. at both the Madison Center for the Arts and Madison #1 Middle school. The Bash is an annual celebration of music and arts in the Madison schools and surrounding community. The event showcases artists and musicians from all eight Madison schools, while raising much needed funds for the Madison Education Foundation. There will be food trucks, vendors, an Art Walk and student performances for all to enjoy.

All proceeds from the Dash to the Bash will benefit the Madison Education Foundation, whose mission is to enhance art and music education throughout the entire Madison Elementary School District.
