Pedestrian Struck By Light Rail

Police say a pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a light rail train in Phoenix.

According to Phoenix police, officers responded to the incident at 19th Avenue and Montebello, where they discovered a man in his 40s pinned underneath the light rail.

Firefighters were able to use air bags to lift the light rail off the man, but he was trapped underneath for several minutes.

The man was rushed to the hospital and the light rail and roadway were closed for several hours after.
