Laura Webb has been approved by the Madison Elementary School District Governing Board as the new principal at Madison Simis Elementary School. An educator for more than 15 years, Webb currently serves as an assistant principal at Madison Rose Lane Elementary School within the top-rated district. Ms. Webb will replace Dr. Joyce Flowers, Simis’ beloved long-time principal who retires this June.
“We are incredibly privileged to have Ms. Webb serve as the new principal of Madison Simis,” said Madison School District Superintendent Kenneth Baca. “Her extensive experience as an educator, the value she places on each student’s success, the leadership she’s demonstrated at Madison Rose Lane and her ability to bring individuals together to create new opportunities for our students – makes me confident she’ll uphold and enhance the traditions of Simis and Madison.”
Webb has a broad range of educational experience in and outside the Madison District. She has served at both public and private schools, and is currently completing her sixth year as an assistant principal, the fourth of which has been at Rose Lane. Simis will be the fourth Madison school she has worked at, so she is knowledgeable in the standards of the district. She has also served in Madison as a community member, parent and teacher.
When asked about priorities, Webb shared, “My initial focus will be to develop meaningful relationships with students, staff and parents as together we focus on Simis’ overall goals. We’ll also refine strategies to maintain and improve upon the students’ high achievements in an everchanging educational landscape – including expanding technology use on campus and utilizing the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework to develop and enhance students’ critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.”
Webb added, “I’m very grateful to continue leading in Madison and work in the community in which I live. I’m thrilled to be able to lead Simis and work alongside the diverse parent community, dedicated staff and talented students as we continue Simis’ tradition of excellence and develop students into empathetic and strategic global thinkers.”
Simis Elementary School serves children in grades preschool to fourth grade and is known for its award-winning music and International Baccalaureate programs. Families interested in enrolling for the 2019-2020 school year may call (602) 664-7300 or visit
