Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) is encouraging the community to spread some holiday cheer this season by adopting a TCAA-enrolled family and giving the gift of hope this holiday.
The adopt-a-family project will allow low-income families that have shown progress in TCAA’s various programs to experience the joys of opening gifts and receiving new toys and clothes during the holidays. There are numerous families enrolled in TCAA’s programs that struggle to bring the holidays to life for their children, due to poverty, hunger and/or homelessness.
“We hope the adopt-a-family project provides Tempe residents with an uplifting holiday experience, leaving a lasting impact on both the family receiving the gifts and the individuals giving them,” said Deborah Arteaga, executive director of Tempe Community Action Agency. “A lot of these families struggle to provide their children with the basic needs, and receiving new items during the holidays will truly mean the world to them.”
Adopting a family gives community members the privilege to make a family’s holiday memorable by gifting new items for the entire family to enjoy. A family can be adopted individually or with a group of coworkers, friends, or family members. Registration to adopt a TCAA family is open now through Monday, Dec. 10. To adopt a family, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
TCAA has an array of programs designed to help adults and children overcome crises, reach their potential and contribute to their community. This includes I-HELP, Tempe’s only homeless shelter program; Tempe’s largest Food Pantry; Senior Independence Services including a Home Delivered Meals program and senior center operations; two Community Gardens; health outreach services for pregnant and parenting families, and workforce development services designed to improve the economic status of individuals and families. Combined, these programs benefit more than 22,000 adults and children each year.
