Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley (BGCEV) celebrated the 41st Annual Night of Champions Gala at The Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass on October 20th, 2018. They also hosted their 21st Annual Golf for Kids event sponsored by State 48 on October 19th, 2018 for a weekend of festivities. Almost 800 people attended, raising over $600,000 for children and teens in the East Valley. Special guests included Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher, Archie Bradley, America’s Got Talent star; Evie Clair, String Quartet Urban Electra and emcee’s Burns and Gambo from Arizona Sports Talk Radio.
“The Arizona Diamondbacks are proud to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley and the 2018 Night of Champions featuring D-backs pitcher Archie Bradley,” said Derrick Hall, D-backs President & CEO. “Boys & Girls Clubs provide world-class programming that assures every child the opportunity to be successful in school and in life and we are happy to continue to support their efforts.”
Connie Perez, BGCEV new Chief Executive Officer, made her event debut, speaking to donors, sponsors, media, and guests about her plans to increase funding and building the team as they increase the number of children served in the community. Night of Champions is the biggest fundraising night of the year for BGCEV with funds helping to expand programs like science, technology, mathematics, robotics, and sports.
“We are extremely grateful for our donors, sponsors, community members and special guests who helped make the 41st Annual Night of Champions Gala one to remember. With evidence-based programs, enhanced relationships and improved facilities, we will provide an Ultimate Club Experience. BGCEV sincerely appreciates the support from people around the community, so to see everyone together making a difference for over 34,000 kids, was something special,” said Connie Perez.
