An annual tradition for many across the valley arrived at the Outlets at Anthem, Thurs., Oct. 25. For 17 consecutive years, the shopping center in North Phoenix has been home to the state’s largest fresh-cut Christmas tree. This year’s beauty stands 80-feet tall, 22-feet wide and will weigh close to four tons when completely decorated.
“For many Arizona residents, the Outlets at Anthem tree arrival is truly the start of the holiday season,” said Christina Henning, general manager and marketing director, Outlets at Anthem. “Each year our shoppers look forward to the holiday excitement at Outlets at Anthem. From the Tree Lighting Concert to our Moonlight Madness Shopping Event on Thanksgiving to our magical Santa’s Cottage, there are so many festive and fun events happening at our center this year!”
The center’s spectacular white fir made its debut on a 40-foot flatbed truck, coming all the way from the California/Oregon border. It was then hoisted into place with an industrial crane. A 10-person team will spend the next two weeks – and more than 120 hours – using mobile cranes to shape and decorate the tree.
Eighty (80) strands of LED lights stretching 8,000 feet (roughly 1.5 miles) and more than 5,000 ornaments and bows will decorate the tree. It will also be topped with a three-foot-tall copper star, a nod to the state’s official metal. Once the tree is decorated, it will be on display for guests and shoppers to enjoy all season long.
The annual tree lighting and concert event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. In addition to the ceremonial tree lighting, guests will enjoy a spectacular and free holiday concert featuring Epic Recording Artist AJ Mitchell and The All-American Boys Chorus from Los Angeles, not to mention a special appearance from Santa himself.
