Phoenix Theatre, the largest professional regional theatre company in the Valley, is kicking off its 99th season with the classic musical, West Side Story (Sept. 5-Oct. 14.) The show is a modern Romeo and Juliet story that deals with racism, segregation and violence, themes that are as relevant today as they were more than 60 years ago when the show premiered on Broadway. Audience members can expect a fiery and passionate production. Located in downtown Phoenix at 100 E. McDowell Rd., next to the Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Theatre will also produce the five-time Tony-award winning musical Fun Home (Oct. 10-Dec. 2), and holiday treat, Elf: The Musical (Nov. 14-Dec. 30), to round out 2018.
