The Tempe Preparatory Academy football program has undergone a major change. After about a month-long search to find who will lead the football team, a new coach was hired: Coach Larry Cain.
This will be Coach Cain’s 13th year coaching youth and high school football. His high school coaching career began when he built Gilbert Christian High School’s football program, coaching from 2011-2015 with a record of 32-8. He later assisted for Campo Verde High School’s varsity and JV teams, and last season he was the head JV coach for Valley Christian High School.
When asked why he decided to come to Tempe Prep, Coach Cain replied, “I have liked Tempe Preparatory Academy’s program and school for seven years, and I was impressed with how well (former coaches) Tommy and Josh Brittain were doing for having such a small roster, and as head coach I want to continue to foster the team’s love for football.”
When asked how he thought our team was coming along so far during spring workouts, he said, “We are light-years ahead of where I thought we would be with barely any practices. We are smart, strong, aggressive, and we will be a sleeper.”
