It was a horror day on a New Mexico freeway as a semi-truck veered into oncoming traffic, causing a terrible crash that claimed at least seven lives and injured many more.

According to New Mexico authorities, the seven victims were onboard a commercial passenger bus belonging to Greyhound Lines that was heading west on Interstate 40 en route to Phoenix. A tire blowout caused a semi-truck to cross the median and strike the bus.

First responders rushed to the scene, as 37 patients received medical attention at the Gallup Indian Medical Center. Six of those patients were transferred for additional care.
