Cochise County and Surrounding, come support Douglas and Bisbee THIS weekend:
The Number 1 Compelling Reason……..The 7TH Annual Robles Toy Drive:
This article is written from a heartfelt perspective: Rene Robles suffered his first known chronic seizure during his 5th birthday party. It was a joyous event – a double birthday pool party shared with a cousin. His older sister Rachel zeroed on her sisterly instincts and observed that her little brother was not responding in normal “Chapo” style. Hours later, Rene “Chapo” Robles travelled to Tucson Medical Center for what stretched into well a week. When Chapo Robles had time to ask his own questions, naturally he wanted to know what happened to his and his cousin’s birthday party. Tucson Medical Center members responded with an impromptu birthday celebration for Chapo and his cousin.
Chapo has been giving back and paying it forward for the past 7 years! Support the toy drive! Call or send a text to (520) 234-1660. You can take donations to 1521 San Antonio Drive in Douglas. Donations are welcome until July 29th. The family will deliver donations to Tucson Medical Center on Chapo’s birthday, July 31. NOTE: The hospital cannot accept stuffed toys – NO STUFFED TOYS.
If you venture further east into Douglas, Ladies, you may find other fashion stops, particularly a charming boutique on 10th Street across from the Douglas Library. Also some choice stops for great food – get your local recommendations!
You might stop by at the Bisbee Farmer’s Market between 9:00 am and 12 Noon: A true farmer’s market hints of something “hand grown”, “hand crafted”, “hand fashioned”. Come taste some unique concoctions of Art and Science with Bisbee Good Cakes. Local artists will float around. They might draw you, or you might draw them – and that would be even funnier.
If you visit Douglas, don’t miss the murals that reconcile Art with Cartography.
