VALLEYLIFE’s Bernice Kussell Society held their annual Cinco de Mayo party on Saturday, May 5th. Audrey and Charlie Alfano graciously hosted the event at their Mercedes Benz of Gilbert dealership. Society Members and guests enjoyed an evening of Mexican inspired fare, music and dancing. VALLEYLIFE’s dance instructor, Yelena Babyuk, led the guests in line dances and the Merengue. VALLEYLIFE’s President and CEO, Cletus Thiebeau, and Director of Fund Development, Margaret Stephens-Reed, spoke about VALLEYLIFE’s work to support their mission of “enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities,” and how the Bernice Kussell Society supports VALLEYLIFE. Leslie Smith, Communications and Marketing Manager, spoke about VALLEYLIFE Members’ participation in Special Olympics and their most recent recognition and awards. A raffle was held to raise money to purchase tickets for VALLEYLIFE Members to attend upcoming Diamondbacks games.

The Bernice Kussell Society, part of the VALLEYLIFE Foundation, is named for VALLEYLIFE’s founder Bernice Kussell. The Bernice Kussell Society supports VALLEYLIFE by funding Member needs that are not covered by traditional funding sources. These needs can include tickets and transportation to outings and events, group home supplies, dental work not covered by insurance, clothing and shoes.

Donors are welcomed into the Bernice Kussell Society once they have committed to an annual minimum donation of $1,000.  Membership includes: invitations to special donor events, donor recognition, and opportunities to meet keynote speakers, celebrities and researchers in the field of developmental disabilities. Join the Bernice Kussell Society today and become a part of this special group of individuals who recognize the urgent need to provide the resources necessary to support our community members with disabilities.
