HD SOUTH, home of the Gilbert Historical Museum the East Valley’s arts, culture, & history center, offers a series of exciting and informative programs for people of all ages. THE ART OF QUILTING SHOW
Now through May 26th, 2018. Monday – Friday | 9am – 4pm. The Art of Quilting Show displays many different styles of quilts made by members of our community. This is the 13th year of the show, which will run through May 28th. Over 100 quilts will be on display throughout the museum. The show is FREE with paid admission.
THROUGH THE NEEDLE’S EYE EXHIBIT
Now through May 12th, 2018. Weekly, Monday – Friday | 11am – 3:00pm. The Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) acknowledges the value of needlework in art and history. The National Exhibit is a representative selection of the best in artistic and technical works. It is through the needle’s eye that EGA embraces both traditional and contemporary needlework while expanding the perception of embroidery as an art form. MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE
May 28th, 2018 | 9am – 12pm. Every year the Gilbert Historical Museum, along with American Legion Post 39, is proud to host Gilbert’s Memorial Day service on the museum’s front lawn, where monuments honor Gilbert residents who have served in our nation’s armed forces. The service begins at 9:00 a.m. and includes a flag ceremony, the laying of wreaths and recognition of veterans in attendance, as well as musical entertainment and a variety of speakers. All Gilbert residents are encouraged to attend to honor those who have died in service, and those who continue to serve today. We encourage you to bring lawn chairs as seating is limited for this popular event. The museum will be open until 12:00 p.m.
